Sorry Ian, thought I'd sent you the link before! I'd forgotten you'd hitched this way. We'll have to swap stories at Saki's pub (if it's still there) when we finally make it to Nieu Bethesda :)

Peter, I'm not so sure, at the pace we're peddalling (somehow we've only pedalled a few days in the last two months, and still haven't left St Louis ;-) Really enjoying your updates by the way.

Jeremy, ha, brilliant! We so nearly took the Diama route - we were planning to but then it rained, and the call of Senegalese beer won out... Ho hum. Can't believe you got scammed at Rosso without even crossing there! Yep, really looking forward to meeting you in Cameroon (you're in Yaounde, right?).

Lindsey, I've seen your comments over on eyeonafrica - lovely to see you here too! It was really brilliant to meet Ian and Alan - what a very nice son (and his friend) you have!

Kat, the mics didn't reach my brother in time to bring them out but they arrived by courier today and - oh wow! We're in Dakar at the moment but going to a national park with wonderful bird life next week (when we're on the bikes again) and hope to get to know the mics a bit there. Thank you and Bernie so much for your (excellent) advice!

Heya, Bix et Huw:
Lovely to get the updates and so glad to hear you get a bit of a vacation. Can hardly wait to hear what you might be able to capture via new mics. Oh, boy! What days these are. Cheers, Kat

Lovely to know there's more of you out there doing such amazing things! I'm thoroughly enjoying following your journey now, as well as my son Ian and Alan from "eyeonafrica". I envy you all for getting out there and doing what the rest of us say we'd like to but never do!!

We had a minor run in with the guys at Rosso and we didn't even cross over there, we took a right just before the border and went to cross at Diama - couldn't have been the more different experience. The guys at Diama even fed us and put us up for the night! (http://www.2wheels2africa.com/blog/2008/03/03/mauritanian-hospitality/)
Nonetheless the Rosso guys still managed to scam us a bit as our insurance had just expired... so they didn't let us leave either without taking their pound of flesh!
Loving the updates and looking forward to eventually meeting you guys!

That border crossing sounds exciting - I can hardly wait. I think there's little fear in me over-taking you.
