Thanks bex - really useful info.
The gps water coords will be invaluable, but I can certainly wait until you get to Senegal - i've a little way to go before reaching the sahara!!

Thank you Daf. Maybe not the stars but, if we're lucky we might have the moon for the next gallery and, if we're really, really lucky, the sound of stag beetles clicking (that's the hope, anyway!) xx

Thank you folks. Jamie, yep, you may have a point there...

Helen, thanks - won't be long before you're here! (For others, Helen's about to cycle from the UK to South Africa, solo, with an amazing photography project in mind - www.takeonafrica.com. See Maria Helena, there are other people like us!)

Water: what we're getting through varies so much depending on heat, mood, hunger, whether there's a cafe for soft drinks on the way etc but I think the most we've got through in a day is 10 litres - that's for two of us, including around 4 litres for cooking the evening meal, washing up and drinking at night etc.

I drink at least four litres a day - and feel I should be drinking a lot more than that (I'm getting better). Huw rarely feels the need to drink more than 2 (but he's not normal when it comes to water intake!).

On the very hot day I probably drank six or seven litres on the road plus another couple when we arrived in town, and Huw 2.5. Just mentioning it to make the point that you may need more than me or (unlikely!) less than Huw.

By the way, we're noting the GPS location of every water point between Guelmim and the Senegal border - we'll publish them here when we get to Senegal but shout if you need them before, or in more detail. (That applies to anyone else reading too.)
