Good to be back on the rd. Been camping among acacias – & have the punctures to prove it. Tonight, in a hut listening to fri prayer/singing.
About to get back on the bikes after a month off in senegal. It’s a bit like starting the trip again. But with a suntan. And less money.
After an elaborate, bureaucratic dance with customs, we have our new mics! Back to the bikes in St Louis tomorrow. Today, playing with kit.
Charming insult of the day (from a toothless & twinkly eyed gent as 7 of us piled into a 5-seat car): “Madame a beaucoup de derriere…”
Spent the evening recording Giant Eagle Owls. Amazing creatures – look like gremlins and sound like pigs.
Watching the sun set over a lake full of pelicans. Lots of sounds to upload when we next have internet (hyenas! Jackals! Silent giraffes!)
Had our mobile phone nicked last night – bye bye mobile broadband. Ho hum, it was good while it lasted :-)
Spent a lovely eve with http://www.eyeonafrica.co.uk as they overtook us :-) Now in St Louis, #Senegal – full update when power cuts allow
Off to the faded charm of St Louis but may take two days to cover 100kms – so much to sound record!
