Thank you Daf - and yes, wonderful sights to feast our eyes :)

Fantastic! It seems to me that cyclists usually tend to cross Mauritania more out of necessity rather than choice, but I am convinced that this country has some real potential to please, so I will be very much looking forward to hearing about your own impressions!

By the way, 'Travels in Mauritania' by Peter Hudson is a fantastic read should you have not come across it yet.

All the best, and thanks again,

Marlène.

Marlene, wow, we're not the only crazy cyclists / sound recordists! Wonderful website (and I've added you to our blogroll).

Our first impressions of Mauritania are wonderful: colour, sounds, warmth - a really vibrant, diverse feel after Morocco and Mauritania. We're still working out what to do next - we're going to be in Nouadhibou for a few days I think, recording stuff, and then we may take the huge iron ore train inland and cycle back to the coast or we may follow the coastal route south. The inland idea is winning at the moment, despite the heat :)

And the next stop is Senegal - don't think we'll be going to Mali, sadly.

Bex
PS Thank you so much for your kind writeup in your links section!

These pictures are absolutely beautiful, you guys made my day (I'm a big B&W fan)... :-)
How are you finding Mauritania? Will you be staying for long or are you already making your way to Senegal (or Mali)?
